The Smyth Performance Audi Ute kit is designed to transform worn-out or damaged A4 and S4 sedans into functional utes right in your garage. After acquiring a donor vehicle, the skin is removed from the rear quarter-panels, and the taillight panel and back half of the roof are removed. The ute kit comes with a fiberglass rear window panel and rear quarter-panels, taillights, a steel tailgate, rear glass, and aluminum bed panels and several structural supports. The aluminum B-pillar reinforcements and the bed panels return all lost strength to the vehicle, which can safely carry 750 pounds and also tow a trailer. The ute conversion takes 20 to 40 hours to complete, without paintwork, and saves 100 to 200 pounds over the stock sedan.
