Installing a Fuel Cell

Whether your Corvette looks like a legendary racer or not, if you plan to run it on the track, a fuel cell is recommended for both safety and performance. It consists of a metal shell with a flexible, internal bladder stuffed with foam baffling. The bladder reduces the risk of puncture, and the foam keeps fuel from sloshing, and provides explosion resistance as well.

The effective life of a fuel cell is about eight years, but Larry Weiner’s was much older than that when it began to show signs of age (minor leaks). He pulled out the can and sent it back to Fuel Safe, which still had his records on file. With the tank refurbished, he was able to fit it right back in, taking only a few minutes.
