Drivers’ Choice Awards: Transmission Category Winners

Last year we kicked off our second annual RCN Drivers’ Choice Awards program to recognize the top products and services in the world of replicas, unique classics and homebuilt cars. We posted 20 categories ranging from tools, tires and brakes, all the way up to complete turnkey vehicles and builder packages, and you voted for your favorites. Unfortunately we were not able to hand out our Drivers’ Choice Awards in person at the SEMA Show with its 2020 cancellation, but we look forward to recognizing our winners over the coming weeks here at rcnmag.com.

Shifting gears defines your vehicle’s personality just as much as the way it handles corners or how hard it puts you back into your seat when you pound the accelerator. And thankfully for us, there are plenty of options on the market today to perfect your torque transmission, whether it be a conventional four-speed for cruising, a modern six-speed for freeway flying or even a built-up automatic for tackling the 1,320. Five companies were nominated in the Transmission Supplier category of our 2020 Drivers’ Choice Awards, and were pleased to announce that TREMEC has been awarded the gold medal.

TREMEC was founded in April of 1964 as a supplier of transmission components to Detroit’s Mexican manufacturing facilities. TREMEC was soon supplying transmissions to Ford, GM, Chrysler, AMC and more, and also exporting transmissions to U.S. assembly facilities. By the 1990s, TREMEC had acquired BorgWarner’s manual transmission designs, catapulting the company into the performance aftermarket sector as well. These days, TREMEC continues to supply transmission solutions to OEMs, while also focusing on agricultural, vocational and electric vehicles as well. Current aftermarket performance offerings include the T5, TKO, TKX and Magnum-series transmissions.

Congratulations to TREMEC, along with Forte’s Parts Connection and McLeod Racing, who finished second and third in the Transmission Supplier category respectively.

Thanks to all who voted, along with all the companies nominated in this category!
